The painter Albert Joseph Moore was, in a way, born with artistic talent. Born in 1841, he was the youngest child of the artist William Moore. Already in his earliest childhood Albert Moore developed a love for art and, like his father and four brothers, embarked on an artistic career. Already at the age of 16 years two drawings of the young British talent were exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts in London.
After being a student at the Royal Academy for a short time a little later, he decided to go freelance. At the end of the 1850s Moore met the architect William Eden Nesfield. With him the artist went on a journey to France, where he was able to refine his style. Between 1858 and 1870 he worked as a church and decoration painter.
Moore's most famous works from this period include two murals from St. Albans Church in Rosdale, England: The Feeding of the Five Thousand and The Last Supper. The painter became known beyond the borders of England for his works depicting women in antiquated depictions. His main focus was on the decorative arrangement of the female figures and not on a narrative momentum, as was usual at the time.
