Henri Paul Motte grew up in a small town near Paris. His father was a painter, his mother an actress. He began painting and drawing at a young age and soon discovered a fascination with pictures. As a child, Henri Paul Motte often lived in dramatic conditions. His family lost their house several times. Despite all these trials, Henri Paul Motte managed to become a famous artist. He received his education at the École des Beaux-Arts and then worked as a painter, draftsman and graphic artist. With the publication of his work "Henri IV et sa Cour" he achieved international fame. In addition, he developed into a real jack-of-all-trades and was also active as an architect, art writer and book illustrator.
