Napoleon Bonaparte is arguably one of the most polarizing figures in world history - for some a despot and warmonger, and for others a reformer who spread the ideals of the French Revolution in Europe and introduced the first social benefits and pensions. Antoine Jean Gros's painting depicts the French Emperor riding a white steed at the Battle of Prussian Eylau, which took place from 7 to 9 February 1807 between the Grande Armée and the Imperial Russian Army under the command of Count Levin August von Bennigsen , Napoleon led 75,000 troops into the field, from Bennigsen 67,000, which were supported by another 9,000 Prussian soldiers under the leadership of General Anton Wilhelm of L'Estocqs. After three days of battle, Bennigsen ordered the retreat.

Have the image installed in an existing frame, which was relatively easy. The copy looks like original, as long as my amateur eye can judge that.
(Machine translation) Original comment: Habe das Bild in einen bestehenden Rahmen verbaut, was relativ einfach ging. Die Kopie sieht aus wie original, sofern mein laienhaftes Auge das beurteilen kann. |
