| The picture frame model Stella is an elaborate work from an Italian frame manufactory. Due to the fine craftsmanship, each piece is unique. The special detail are the golden inner edges, which were covered with leaf metal. The contrast with the silky shiny black glaze makes it look particularly noble and reminiscent of old master art. It is therefore particularly suitable for dark muted tones and quiet compositions such as still lifes and interiors, as increasingly found in early Dutch and Scandinavian painting. The frame also provides a subtle enhancing border for modern paintings by more recent artists that follow this style. |
