Joaquín Sorolla takes the viewer in the south of Europe to the sea: A naked boy in side view leads a white horse on the sandy beach out of the water. Shadows on the beach suggest that it is lunchtime and the sun is shining intensely. For this reason, the boy shields his face with a large straw hat; a motif that can be seen again and again in the Spanish artist.
